I live in a rented flat with no external aerial for TV :(

I have recently changed my TV and have noticed a decline in picture quality on some channels.

I already have an internal aerial that is connected to mains power and is "boosted". It is made by aerial king and I purchased it from Currys about 18 months ago.

So can anyone out there recommend a good quality internal aerial that does'nt cost the earth.

Cheers in advance

Its a dificult situation you have. Being a cable user I had almost forgotten the frustration of uhf ariels. Some ideas maybe for you to consider:

Its strange a new telly should give a lower quality picture from the same ariel. Its possible that you are boosting the signal too much - that can give a poor picture too. On some modern tellies you can modify the signal strength input on each channel.

If its signal strength you really lack - thats a problem in a rented flat - I don't suppose they let you mount an external ariel or, ideally, a satellite dish. UHF reception is mainly influenced by ariel height and orientation (height is critical - the more the better). Satellite is the best solution.

There are lots of internal ariels for sale. I would suggest any that claims high gain and has adjustable amplification. Unfortunately the same amplification level usually doesn't suit the channels equally (i.e. BBC vs ITV) since you receive different signal strengths from the respective transmitters.

Sorry - don't know if this helps. Without an external receiver you are probably doomed to compromise signal quality.

It's a definetely a signal strength problem as I've got a signal amplifier that I brought a while back and have now added this to the powered aerial and there is an improvement albeit fairly small.

Guess, I'll have to just grin and bear it as were only in the flat for another 8 months (hence the reticence to fork out for an external aerial!!)

Thanks for your advice tho' :)
