If you mean where do you find them, it relies on you clicking the box that says 'Save a copy in sent items' otherwise it wont keep a copy in the sent items.

Hotmail deletes them after a few days anyway. Best thing to do is make a new folder (click on New and Folder) and move important email from the Sent Mail folder to there.

It'll always be kept.

You could just set up all your sent mail to bc to yourself. Set up a filter so all received mail with your own address as bc get sent directly to a new folder called e.g. correspondence. Job done.
