Quick question.

I have a dell computer that is connected via ethernet cable to a wireless netgear router/modem. I have another pc in another room that is picking up the wireless router/modem that my dell computer is connected too. They are both using windows xp home edition.

My question is how do I go about linking these two computers together so that we can have some kind of common folder where we can share files such as images and documents etc.

Thanks

Make sure they are in the same subnet (I presume they will both be in 255.255.255.0 by default - you can check this by going to start > run > type "cmd" and then type "ipconfig" and look at the subnet mask address).

Then create a folder on either PC > Right click it > Properties > Sharing > Share This Folder

On the other PC navigate to My Network Places, you may have to add/find the folder. You can either add it using the 'Add Network Place' shortcut on the left menu, and then adding the folder location manually.

If the shared folder is called Documents, and the PC it's located on is called Jimmyjammy the address would be:

\\Jimmyjammy\Documents

Give it name, and then a shortcut will appear in My Network Places for you to access the folder. (you can put this on the desktop etc)

There are other ways of doing this, but this is probably the easiest for you.
