Forgot about this, then noticed it in Woolworths.
Fantastic! and a double disc to boot. Watched the film last night and thgought it was very enjoyable a good mix of american serial killer type film and french thriller. Watched the extras this afternoon, I have to say that the extras are very good an hour long doc, commentary and various breakdowns of key scenes. I watched the documentary and featurette about the corpse and one about a fight scene and this took nearly two hours! and ther's still loads to watch.
Makes a change to have a good documentary, i'm sick of the self-promotional crap you get on most discs these days, HBO first look etc. I think the worst one I saw recently was on Pitch Black R2. About 2 seconds long and full of nothing.

Was it just me or did this film just sort of creep onto the shelves?

Anybody else seen it? Any thoughts?

I've seen it, it was ok I thought, though the ending wasn't exactly brilliant, sort of let it down

Also..

After watching the documentary and realising just how much had been chopped/changed from the book I was even less impressed as I would have liked to have seen a lot more of what was mentioned

I have watched this once only and have to say that I loved it. I had no idea where it was going but was completely hooked by it. Admittedly I am prejudiced by my own personal fascination with this film's subject matter so since I had no idea this film explored it the surprise was twice as enjoyable. With hindsight I would have liked a deeper exploration/explanation of this subplot details, and I also thought the ending was hurried and weak.

I recommend that those who enjoyed the movie but felt that it was too confusing or simply those who wanted more try to read the book (assuming it's been translated in English. I read the french edition) by Jean-Christophe Grange. It's definitely less confusing/condensed than the movie and a good read.
