I am thinking about getting the Sony STR-DB1070 Receiver along with the Sony SE-VE815ED Middle range Pascal speakers.

They look okay, as anybody got any comments/reviews about them?

Thanks

At those prices (remember to add the VAT), you'd be better off with the KEF eggs & maybe a Marantz 5200 from somewhere else.

I know about VAT, it's just I've currently got Sony TV/DVD/Stereo/Video so I was really after get Sony equipment.

I was more after any reviews or comments on the actual kit (from owners?)

Cheers

I too got a 1070 for 300 and it is an excellent all round amp. However, it does depend on the price - I wouldn't have bought it at 600 notes, as Bap says there are better alternatives at that price. For around 450 which I have seen it at recently then it is a strong contender - but as always try before you buy. Also not sure why you particularly want a Sony amp just because your other stuff is?

I've got the Sony STR-DB1070 Receiver and it has really grown on me, top bit of kit but I think you can do a LOT better than the SE-VE815ED Middle range Pascal speakers for the cash, IMO they sounded poor. See if you can get a few demos and see what you think sounds good. The Kef eggs sound very impressive by the way and they look nice too.

The Pascal speakers will NOT do the amp justice, even though Sony market them together. By Sony's own admission, in terms of sound quality they just about qualify for 'entry level' status, which is not really what you want to connect to an amp with an RRP of £600. Baps suggestion of the Kef eggs or perhaps the Mordaunt Short sub'n'sat combination will be a more rewarding choice if you have to go with small speakers.

[HINT] shop around, you may find what you want elswhere [HINT]
