It looks beautiful visually and the gameplay seems to be more along the lines of the first few Tomb Raiders. Hopefully it is anyways, the last couple in the series were rubbish.

Well I've just been called a liar by the customer services manager. I've been told that my order is now for the normal Xbox version and that I must have made a mistake when I ordered. I HATE TESCO ONLINE!!!!!!!!!!!

They have frigged the link from your order to point to the XBOX game!!!!!!!!!!!

Last week the link was dead. This week we are linked to XBOX game. There is also a page that has the 360 version for 47 odd quid.

http://www.tesco.com/entertainment/product.aspx?R=693419&bci=4|Games*4294312962|Xbox%20360*92|Coming%20Soon

So called for the 3rd time to check which platform this is for. They are now 110% adamant that its for the XBOX. Last week a CS bloke assured me it was for the XBOX 360.

I urge anyone to call and give them abuse over this. I did mention that I has a screengrab but the CS guy was adamant I was going to receive the XBOX game.

They kept urging me to cancel and re-order the 360 version.

I just left it that I had ordered the 360 version and fully expect to receive it.

Looks like Tesco have done us over again! (After all, we all know this is a losing battle).

This is my point exactly. Mistakes happen, if they had said 'sorry we messed up' I'd have cancelled and left it at that. All I want now is a formal apology for how I was spoken to.

BUT, this thread also mentioned another place (Virgin IIRC) where you could have preordered this title for about the same price. This is no longer available, so my take on it is that Tesco have shafted us. They have been soooo sneaky removing the web page and now replacing it with an XBOX one.

I know we have NO CHANCE of getting the Xbox 360 version out of Tesco, but I don't think everyone should accept that they ordered an XBOX version of this game.

If you search back through this thread you'll see that I doubted this would come off from Day 1, it is TESCO we are talking about after all.

Interesting reading...

Tesco hold no stock themselves so some of you may be pleased to know that Tesco have not renewed their contract with their existing games/dvd supplier and the contract is up within the next couple of months.. Not yet sure whether a new supplier has been chosen or whether the contract is still out to tender. Let's hope they don't go with the other largest UK wholesaler for Home Entertainment who are not much better :(

Just had a similar response although they conveniently forgot to mention the screenshot I sent them... :suspect:

Have responded asking them to explain the screenshot.

Thank you for your email.

Firstly, I was very concerned to learn of your disappointment with the way in
which we have handled your complaint. I can only apologise, most sincerely, for
any additional annoyance that has been caused.

May I reassure you that we are a company committed to provide the very best in
terms of customer service. Therefore, it is most disappointing when a valued
customer is unhappy with any aspect of our operations.

Unfortunately upon checking your order I have found that the Xbox standard
version of the game was ordered.

I am unable to explain how this was the case, however I can confirm that the
order was not changed in any way after confirmation of the order.

When confirmed by yourself the Xbox standard version of the game was in your
basket and checked out.

I see that you have also decided to cancel your order.

There was no intention to cause any further annoyance or upset. It is always a
matter of regret when one of our customers remains dissatisfied, but I hope,
despite this we can still look forward to your much valued custom.

I wonder if Tesco can explain how we all 'erroneously' ordered the wrong version as at the same time conveniently ignoring the details we've clearly given them. Had they owned up and held their hands up, then it might have been acceptable. However, I think to accuse someone of lying or making a mistake with their order is very shoddy behaviour.

Stuff this. I'm going to Watchdog. Sent them a copy of the screen grab and got this. No "Sorry, we ballsed it up!" As far as I'm concerned, at the time I placed the order, the information on their website was showing that I ordered the 360 version and they have changed now chaged it. All they had to do was apologise for getting it wrong, but it is still my fault for ordering the incorrect item!!

Thank you for your email.

Please accept my apologies for the problems encountered with this order.

I have checked with our supplier and they have confirmed that the item number 687150 is for the Xbox Game only not the Xbox 360 Game.

I do apologise that this may be disappointing for you but unfortunately the order placed is for the XBox Game and if you require the Xbox 360 Game you are required to place a new order.

Again I apologise for any confusion. If you wish to cancel this order this can be done on line or if you let me know I will request cancellation here for you.

Thank you for your time and patience.

RESULT!! (assuming they honour the refund...) :suspect:

Thank you for your reply.

Thank you for sending a screen shot of the Xbox 360 game showing at £29.97.

I am unable to explain why this was, as it is now showing the correct price on
the website, however, we will honour the price of the game if you choose to
re-order this.

We are unable to amend the price before it is despatched, however, if you
contact us when the order arrives we will refund the £10.00.

Please accept my sincere apologies for the inconvenience caused.

Thank you for your reply.

I am sorry that you are unhappy with my last email.

The item number ordered was for the Xbox Origional Game not the Xbox 360 Game and again I apologise for any confusion.

Send the JPG of the screengrab, they do seem to be coming round a bit ...

E-mail from CS:

Thank you for your email.

I now see that this issue is all about. If as I suspect the producers of this
product are sending out a dual purpose disk That will play on both versions.

If this is not the case then please contact me by return after receipt of item
from Tesco.com/Extra
I will then get this resolved for you.

If you have any further queries please do not hesitate to contact us at

At least there is some middle ground now! Although we all know there ain't a dual purpose disk.

Ok thanks.

Now - having been involved in several CS issues in the company I work for, it's clear that they should all be very aware of this problem.

Going by the above correspondence, it would certainly have been flagged up by now that there was a problem with the item - and all the "I'm sorry, I didn't know there was a problem with this item" either says one of two things - their customer service set up is terrible and they have no way of dealing with problems like this and that the communication inside the CS department in nought. For a company like Tesco? Highly unlikley.

The other explanation is that they are aware of the problem, yet have decided to treat them all on a case by case basis. I.e. if you shout loud enough, then you might get lucky. Or if you took a screen capture etc..

So, given that they would have actively had to change the image on the picture to show the xbox version - assuming that is what happened - at that point, they should have contacted customers to let them know. As they have not done this, and we have documentary evidence (both the screenshot - and more importantly, this thread) they should be liable to send out the original product. It wasn't a clear "misprice" as it was possible at the time to get the game at a similar price from Virgin.

All very dodgy ground for them to be on, to be honest. Especiall from a PR perspective.

I emailed them yesterday when I noticed this thread. As I was at work I didn't have access to the screenshot I'd taken so used the one on these forums.

This is the reply I got back today.

*******************
Thank you for your email.

The order you placed was for the XBox version of the game and not the 360 version. Unfortunately the email link to this product was incorrect but the order placed was for the Xbox version. The screenshot you have sent in has appeared on certain message boards and it appears that your name has been blanked out where the remainder of the screenshot is clear rendering the screenshot invalid.

If you have any further queries please do not hesitate to contact us at customer.service@tesco.co.uk quoting XXXXXXXXX
*******************

I was utterly disgusted at this so have sent this reply.

*******************
Yes the screen shot is from a message board but that is the product I ordered (the 360 version!). I was at work when I saw YOUR error so didn't have access to my home pc to get the screen grab that I took at the time. I will email you this when I get home.

None of this changes the fact that when I placed the original order on 22nd Feb it clearly stated it was the 360 version I was ordering. Not the xbox version you have changed it to now. It is clearly TESCO who are in the wrong here and I find it totally abhorrent that you are trying to pass over your mistake as an error on my (and countless other customers) part.

Please put my order on hold until you have rectified your mistake (as it's due to be dispatched tomorrow). I do not want to take charge of a version that I have no use for.
************************

I'm now not going to let this drop due to their attitude. It totally stinks.

Steve.

to remind people of my earlier post. if you recieve the wrong version tommorow, tesco have no right to charge you under the distance selling act. A plain xbox version should be regarded as an unsoliceted gift - (something you did not ask for or were expecting)

If tesco try and charge you get your credit card company onto them for a full refund or ask them where the 360 version is.... BUT KEEP the plain version they send you no matter what the next step.

Here was my reply:

Hi - the Xbox and Xbox 360 are completely different games.

The Xbox version will not play on the Xbox 360 for a period of weeks/months depending on when Microsoft update their software. The Xbox 360 version is also considerably enhanced over the Xbox version. To put it into context, this would be like ordering a CD and receiving a cassette tape.

If someone is telling you that these are the same, they need to be corrected as soon as possible.

I, and large amount of people from a forum I frequent - so this is not an isolated case, ordered the Xbox 360 version from you as it was offered at a decent price - so this is what I am expecting to receive. I guess someone would have had to correct the site at some point and link to the xbox version instead - but no one who bought the 360 version was informed that there was a problem with our orders until suspicions were raised by a "reminder" order which did not contain the details of the console the game was for.

Someone on the forum has reported that tesco are indeed aware of the problem (the game was advertised within an Xbox 360 section of your site, and had a picture of the Xbox 360 version alongside) and that people will be sent out the correct 360 version (which I again stress, is not the same as the Xbox version).

Can you please confirm that this is the case and that I will be receiving the correct version? I'd rather not have to go through the process of sending it back and waiting for the correct replacement.

If you have received the XBOX gave you should contact Trading Standards. Tesco have tried to defraud you by sending the wrong goods!

Its like ordering a Mondeo Ghia and being sent a Mondeo LX.

Dont send back anything!! According to the law, you can keep the item as a "free gift" since you did not ask for it.

They are also oblidged to send you the game you ordered at the price you ordered (if they took the money from your bank account.)

Tesco know this and are trying to salvage any money they can. I don't know why people are ignoring my posts. Am I wrong?

See Distance Selling Regulations 2000 (Reg.24) , If the item is unsolicited, the sender's right to both the item and/or payment are extinguished.
So item becomes an unconditional gift.

This has worked to my favour in the past. See http://www.thedvdforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=411906&page=2 for a letter template.

That's not true m8 - it isnt classed under the same procedure as an unsolicited gift as it is a mistake somewhere along the lines. The fact tat you ordered a Tomb Raider game from Tescos (ignoring the problem in hand) is enough for them to null your "unsolicited goods" arguement.

This does really seem to be heading to Watchdog territory. It's clear they made an error - we can probably gather dozens of people to back this up. At what point do they actually realise that writing off the extra £10 will be easier than the amount of trouble we're currently causing, and the potential bad press around the corner?

You can put my name down. I'm going to have to call them when I get back from work as I'm getting nowhere with the CS via email. All the evidence states that they have made the mistake yet they still insist that it's the customers that are ordering the wrong item (because of the product code). How are we ment to know what the product code is for each item? Customers go on Product Picture, Description and Price not Product Code.

Got my copy of Tomb Raider this morning - for the Xbox, even though I'd ordered the 360 version (like everyone else here). I only found out two days ago when someone mentioned it in the gaming forum, and promptly emailed them about it. Only response I got was a form email saying they'd received it - and that took several hours to turn up.

Not happy at all, especially as when my brother phoned customer services for me today, they seemed to tell him that I should "Send the game back and place another order for the right one". Yeah, right, like I'm now going to pay more to get what they should've sent me in the first place.

Ok guys here's some ammo for you.
When they cancelled my original order I spoke to a CS guy called Kenny Niven, I mailed him my screen grabs and he told me to re-order the 360 version and after it was delivered to call him and he's honour the original price and issue the difference as a refund. I've just called CS and Kenny is not there, however, I explained the situation to the chap I got through to (Lee Robertson), he didn't seem fazed by it and said he would sort out the refund for me.

They do seem aware of the issue and honoured the original price for me no problem.

These are my screengrabs :-

You are sending it mearly to prove your claim that at the time you ordered it, it was being displayed as the 360 version not the xbox one. If they think you're pulling a fast one, all they need to do is check that your original order date is before the date they realised their mistake and changed the link.

And this one rule for one customer and one for another that seems to be going on could surely be construed as discrimination.

Well having received my Xbox 360 version from my re-order I've emailed Tesco asking for my refund and got this response. I'll let you know if I don't get it! Good luck to the rest of you.

Thank you for your reply.

I sincerely apologise that you have experienced a problem with your recent
order.

I have arranged for you to be refunded for the relevant amount. Please allow up
to 10 working days for this to be processed.

Thank you for letting us know.

exactly steve.
its this bit that gets me "If you do not wish this product you will need to follow our usual returns procedures"
its not that i dont want the product, I just want the product I ordered on the 23rd of february.
I did'nt think I needed to take screen shots of what I'm buying from tesco, I know now.

Who did you speak to MrLee?

I spoke to Raj. After 34mins of arguing he finally capitulates and says that I can reorder and get a refund for the £10 difference when it arrives.

During the call he effectively called me a liar saying that I'd ordered the Xbox version, and that I hadn't ordered the 360 version. Then he changed his tune to say that there was a period of time where they had indeed offered the 360 version for £30, but that I still had ordered the wrong version so they couldn't do anything about it.

He flat out denied that I'd had my order changed by tesco from one version to another, but was quite happy to insinuate that I was a liar.

Best to call up and ask to speak to a supervisor - they should know about this issue by now.

After the initial insult over the phone I did everything else by email. There were two helpful people tat helped and they were Eve Hughes and Wayne Hansen.

Actually - scratch that - after getting another automatic email back I called them up and they told me to send it back, order it again and they'll refund the difference. Took no time at all, so I guess they've got their story straight now!

finally got a reply from my email today and they said it was a forum screenshot (I never even mentioned a screenshot) and not a Tesco problem, they said I should send it back for a refund.

I'd be annoyed but they've already sent me a 360 version and refunded me a tenner over the weekend! :D

It must be complete confusion over at Tescos Customer Services.

And why do I still have to traipse off to the PO and return the Xbox version and have to reorder the 360 version!!??

Hi

I spoketo Ann at the call centre who informed me to cancel my order on the wrong one and re-order the 360 one. Then they would do a refund on the £10.

I have been told the refund is now processing and wil ltake up to 10 working days.

£10 now refunded back onto my CC by Tesco.

Got there in the end. Shame I'd completed the game before sorting it all out though! Still, you live and learn.

Cancelled mine before they were due to be sent out, after I found out they were honouring the £30 price tag I phoned them up on the off chance they'd let me re-order.
Told me to go ahead and when the charge came through to phone them for a £10 refund, which has since gone through as well.

I cant get them to honour the price, they just say they arent responsible for adverts on forum websites?

Seem to fail to understand that their website is their own responsibility.

If you don't mind waiting, you can pick it up for ~ £25 from Play-Asia (http://www.thedvdforums.com/jump2.php?url=http://www.play-asia.com/SOap-23-83-1p3h.html) - it's just been confirmed as region free. There might be a customs charge, but most seem to have been lucky so far. The following 360 games are also region free;
FarCry Instincts Predator
Blazing Angels: Squadrons of WWII
Call of Duty 2
Quake 4
Tony Hawk's American Wasteland
Gun
Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter
