Best of Smack the Pony £14.99 @ Play (http://www.play.com/Play247.asp?page=title&r=R2&title=98759)
No details and it’s a shame it’s not accorded the respect of having the whole series’ released but something’s better than nothing.</center>
Probably just me but I found Smack The Pony very hit and miss. I wonder if the studio thought the same and decided just to release the best bits and gauge public opinion before commiting to the whole series.
when it was funny it really hit the mark but a lot of the time the sketch was dragged out when the punchline had been reached eons ago. And the songs at the end of each show were a little self indulgent at times.

This was a bag of cock. It was so obviously just "aw, they're trying to be funny, isn't that sweet. I bet they feel really empowered". Damn it we might as well all turn into Americans. (No offence).
And also, what's with these people that say offensive things, and then in brackets say "no offence"? As if that would stop them being offensive idiots. Bar Stewards the lot of em.

Well, I thought it contained some of the funniest sketch comedy I've seen in years. Let's hope the DVD is a 16:9 one.

So, it’s just me and LV426 is it? I rate this much more highly than stuff like Ali G & Trigger Happy or Candid Camera for the 21stC as I prefer to think of it.

No, I'm with you - <I>Smack the Pony</I> is comfortably my favourite out of those three.
Let's face it, <U>by far</U> the biggest laughs associated with Ali G came from the straight-faced replies to ludicrous questions, and once he became too famous, that simply didn't work any more (though, to be fair, the existence of Borat shows that Sacha Baron Cohen is not entirely unaware of this problem!)
I can take or leave smack the pony but my good lady thinks it's the funniest thing ever.....I guess you've got to be a woman to get all of it

None of those are funny, and I think Smack The Pony is ***** too. Oh, while I'm here can I add French & Saunders to the list..

you'll be telling me that Mark Thomas isn't funny next. it's all just a bit more thought provoking, if you put the effort in it's wicked (IMNSHO).

Fellow Comics,
whilst "Smack" was fairly Miss, Miss and miss, being greatly indebted to "Big Train" for a lot of its style (and the second series was awful from what I saw of it), your comments on "THTV" are way off.
"Candid Camera" for the 19th century more like. Take two ideas, repeat until dead. Read Dom Joly's "Sunday Times"(?) column for more evidence of this man's incredible non-talent.
Yours Hilariously,
Lik.

Oh dear. Rather have a bit of Dick Emery would we? Aw bless though, it's nice to see you older folk getting to grips with new technology. If you're really nice, you might even get your next door neighbour coming 'round to make sure you're not dead this Christmas.
