View Full Version : Can I control my Sky box using a Marantz SR5200 remote?
I can't seem to get this to work with my Grundig box - anyone got a code that works, or am I going to need to keep using two remotes?
Sorry to jump on the thread but i have the same problem with my Pace Digi BOx as well, have tired all the codes put no luck :(
I wouldn't take this as gospel but I would probably say your remote won't be able to control a DigiBox. I know that some programmable remotes (including my Pronto) can't operate devices that use IRDA to communicate and I believe that most Digiboxes use this method.
Chances are you can find more information than I know about this problem in the Pronto FAQ (http://www.remotecentral.com/pronto/pfaq.htm) at Remote Central.

Incorrect - only Pace Telewest Digital Cable boxes are incapable of being controlled by the Pronto
Well if you ever figure out the code for the 5200 remote for the digibox please shareit with us - I gave up searching coz my fingers hurt!!

Not being an expert at all, but I have a marantz RC5000 remote which I have been using to control my panasonic (2nd generation - silver) Sky Digi-Box.
I used the original sky handset and learn't the remote codes.
In fact controlling the SKy box was just about the only thing that I managed to get right without too much hassle.
I have also created a ccf which looks and operates like a sky remote (all credit to those who make Remote Central the excellent site that it is).
I don't know what the SR5200 is but hopefully it should work in the same way.

The SR5200 isn't a Pronto style remote like your RC5000, its more a 'one for all' style with hard buttons where you put in numerical codes for each device.

Sorry ...I now see what the problem is. Doh.
I will check my ccf files ...if it has codes for Sky then I will post them.
Failing that ..as I said - Remote Central is a very good site, although the forums and most of the submissions are from americans there are still alot of UK users who may be able to help.

NeoMorpheus, as Ando says, the SR5200 is nothing like the Pronto/Marantz RC5000 rebadge. You can't put 'codes' into it using PC software, its all done on the remote itself either learnt or using its own database of manufacturers/devices ie, like how the sky digital remote can be programmed for your telly :)
