View Full Version : Shoppers using paypal to pay with cards with no account?

OK I think I've confused myself, I have a shopping site now its got paypal option on there to pay via card. If a customer wants to use their credit card and chooses the pay via paypal option at checkout what happens if they do already have a paypal account but have to wait for the confirmation deposits to confirm etc.

Basically someone wants to buy something off my site but their limit isnt enough so they are having to wait for statement to get the deposit amounts before being able to pay the amount via paypal.

Now thing is my site has paypal obviously so can he just use his card direct with paypal without having to use his paypal account. :shrug:

A buyer doesn't have to have a Paypal account to make a payment to you THROUGH PayPal with his/her credit card.

Which I presume is the option I have on my website I think, it shows image sof credit cards etc on the checkout page next to the paypal option sp presume they can just use it as a credit card accepting payment service like worldpay.

I think you have to have a merchant account (i assume you do) for buyers to send money without an account - this is deffinately the case for Nochex.

I think I do, Ive looked in my paypal and read the seller tools but cant make heads nor tail if I have.

They use PayPal. When I'm checking out I have the choice of paying through my own PayPal account or completely hassle free by going to PayPal (all automatic) and entering my CC or debit details. All I need is an email. Much easier to use than any other checkout as there is no account to set up (although PayPal do email to confirm the order and offer to set up an account).

EVerything is secure and no card info goes to the retailer.

Gentlemans just tried doing it from my site using the paypal option and it did indeed say he had account and only would allow him to login to do the transaction but his limit is too low for the item.

Anything I can do, im sure paypal can be used as an out and out card payment system.

I have a PP account and didn't have to login. Try buying from that site above and see how far you get -you can always cancel before you get to the end.

If your customer clicked the "I have a PayPal account" then that's why he had to use PP.
