I’m off on holiday tomorrow and wouldn’t you know it my trusty camera has dropped dead so need to get a new one tonight from somewhere on the high street.
Not after anything amazing just a reasonable digital camera that performs well, has an optical zoom and is pretty compact. Preferably under 100 quid.
I realise the web would be the best place to buy but can anyone give a recommendation for one I can bag from the high street tonight?
Have a look in Jessops (http://www.thedvdforums.com/jump2.php?url=http://tracker.tradedoubler.com/click?p=17211&a=60823&g=106115) - they have some great deals on at the moment and will often (but not always) match internet prices if you can prove the price is legit and the item is in stock (print out something from the net and take a phone number along if you find something online that you like).
In terms of the camera to go for, my personal preference after seven or eight years of using digital cameras would be Nikon, Canon or Sony for a "point and shoot" camera. You're not going to get the latest ultra-high megapixel model for under a hundred quid, but you can pick up something that will serve you very well for that price. I think Jessops (http://www.thedvdforums.com/jump2.php?url=http://tracker.tradedoubler.com/click?p=17211&a=60823&g=106115) are doing a Canon Powershot A410 for £79, down from £140, including a free case at the moment.

Any other advice? Are there any reasonable models in Argos or that Tesco sale?
