Got Fast and the Furious yesterday and wow is this one nutz of a DVD.

Picture is Pin Sharp Perfection with colour definition that will make your eyes bleed and............

Sound....is simply the best DVD on earth. My system just sounded like I spent £10,000 on a new sound system. Only tried the DTS Track, but the Sub suddenly felt like a top of the range REL, but when i turned the light on it was still me little Tannoy :(
Probably comes no.1 or if not no.2 of my best sounding DVD's.

This has to be the new demo DVD to show all your mates. If they are not impressed with this then tell them they need their ears (and eyes) checked.

I can only imagine what it sounds like on your 5 times the price system compared to mine. You lucky gits. :D

I should get mine in a day or two. Looking forward to the soundtrack should be a knockout.

It's interesting to see that according to r2-project. Columbia are getting this one out a month earlier over here. Now scheduled for Feb 11th. I guess they got a look at the pre-orders of this title and thought better than to hang around.:D

hopefully the R2/4 will have DTS, with the reference quality picture transferred to PAL -- should result in an ultimate demo disc.

My account lists the release date as the 02/01/2002, but the posted column has a date of 17/12/2001.

Just got mine from Play today. Watched the first half hour and have to agree with Gareth H about the sound.

Watched it in DD5.1 on a crap basic sony system and it sounded stunning on that. Will watch it in DTS on christmas day on me Sony 1070.

Have you seen though how bad the cover for R4 actually is? The true collector will go for R1 as it is the COMPLETE package even though it costs more!

Yeah i agree John the R4 cover is a bit naff. But i guess those that benefit the PAL picture will not really care about that. I'll stick with my R1 though, nice and shiny:D

I haven't watched the film yet but i had to just try it out in DTS.

 I was actually getting paranoid that people were gonna be banging on the door coz it was so loud. I only had my amp up to three any the noise was unbelievable. I watched the first race and i was just blown away. It's a shame i don't have a huge widescreen telly as my 21" tv just didn't live upto the noise.

Can't wait to watch it properly tommorrow night. This is now my new demo disc.:D

Just seen the film in DTS ! WOW! Had to watch the volume a bit. Really loud, the room was shaking. Excellent DTS Sond. Brilliant picture as well. No grain ! Good film as well.

I agree the R1 case is much better than the awful R4.

Recommended title !:)

yup - got mine this morning and checked it out in glorious DTS. Unbelievable!! It sounds simply superb - I've quite a few DTS movies but I've never heard one as good as this.

Silly point but it was my Dad's birthday on Monday and my lovely 43" Tosh RPTV has his cards all over it - played TFATF at my normal volume (loud!) and they all went flying!

I've got one of those Videologic DTS setup's and my gosh, is it not the best-sounding DVD ever?

I had to turn the DTS track down as it was well-loud and even then it sounded awesome!!

Reference material stuff this!!

Happy Christmas all!!

WTF!

You're seriously prepared to pay more for the sake of a different cover which could be replaced with scanned artwork from the R1 cover if that really matters? In my opinion, the true collector looks for content first. Packaging is very much a secondary matter. If someone offered me the choice of a genuine set of Star Wars DVD's tomorrow in a carrier bag or 5 years time in a fancy case, give me the carrier bag any day of the week! (assuming they were available) Some people are far too obsessed with packaging for their own good. :(

As if TFATF will become a collectors item.

YUP:D. Got the same Digitheatre myself. I really think i'm not going to be able to watch the whole movie without banging from nextdoor or banging from downstairs so i had better be a bit diplomatic when i put it on.

Cervaro - For me the packaging is very much a part of the collecting experience. I just got Almost Famous Bootleg today and thought that was an excellent design. I think a lot of people on here despise the EIV covers as well so if i had to pay a couple of quid more to get a half decent cover i would be more than willing. It's the collectors curse.:(

Having said that i don't think there is any difference between R4 and R1 for FATF. Aside from it being PAL.

That classic excuse huh :D

I just got this through this morning, nice to get it this side of christmas, it'll make a nice present!

I'll put it on later but as for first impressions..

In the words of the immortal Homer J

"Mmmmm shiny!" ;)
