View Full Version : Another eBay question...

I was the winning bidder for a CD on eBay last week and paid by Paypal the same day.

I received the CD a few days ago, in an old re-used envelope but that's not what is concerning me. I logged into my e-mail account today for the first time in a few days to find an e-mail from the seller saying, quote: "if no feedback left by the end of the week, i will be giving you negative feedback!!". That's all she wrote! Now I only received the CD on Saturday, haven't listened to it, I haven't logged into my e-mail account since then, let alone my eBay account.

I found the e-mail very threatening and there is no way I'll be leaving feedback now because even if I do she could still leave me negative feedback, even though I was the perfect bidder. I'm so annoyed at how this person can send an e-mail like this after I bid on her auction, won the auction and paid straight away - and sent good e-mail communication along with the payment, and I never received any communication from her until today.

Who do I report this to at eBay or do they do not care about this sort of thing?

That's shocking - does this seller already have a lot of feedback? Do you? Negative feedback hurts new (or light) users a lot more than powersellers.

I would not leave good feedback for the seller if they did this to me, but if they already have thousands of good feedbacks, then you're just being bullied into it.

That's out of order.....I give feedback for my sellers, but don't always rememebr to give it straight away. I'd certainly send the seller an e-mail asking them what there deal is, sounds like one of those sellers that give Ebay a bad name.

She has nearly 400 pieces of feedback - 1 negative - and I'm not surprised it's that high if she's sending out e-mails like this to her buyers. I'm sure there are a lot of bidders who give her positive feedback after receiving this e-mail for fear of receiving a negative - which she could do anyway. All her feedback seems to left after people have left feedback for her.

I have over 400 with no negatives. Getting negative feedback for not paying for an item or paying for an item late, both of which I have never done, is one thing, but to be sent this intimidating e-mail and being threatend with negative feedback when I couldn't have been a better buyer, then it is really annoying.

Feedback extortion - Demanding any action of a fellow user that he or she is not required to do, at the threat of leaving negative feedback. ("Even though it didn't reach reserve, sell it to me for my bid or...")

Its a clear case. Report it to ebay - hopefully she used ebay email system but that is not necessary to report it. Anyway, get the idiot banned !

Just make sure you use the right reporting form otherwise they won't respond. If you have not already found it look here under

You ought to get any negative feedback they leave removed, should ebay find in your favour - so dont worry about that.

Thank you very much, blender and everyone else for their input.

Yes, she did use the eBay e-mail system. She used the link from the auction page.

The whole positive feedback thing is a you scratch my back I'll scratch yours !

Most Buyers and sellers only deserve Neutral feedback unless they do something above or below what e-bay expects.

Report her - Post Neg feedback for her - Track her down and make her pay.

Have to disagree with you there. Positive feedback is not meant to indicate going over and above ebay expectations.

So why have 3 levels

Positive - Excellent over and above
Neautral - Did what e-bay expects
Negitive - Poor service, overcharging P&P not IAW T&C's etc

Seems simple to me ;)

Positive - Fast payer/sender of item, Excellent item, as described, well packaged.
Neautral - Got item/got money but took an unreasonable amount of time/packaged poorly.
Negitive - Overcharging P&P not IAW T&C's, item/money not received.

Where did those definitions come from?

Its a clear case. Report it to ebay
Give her positive feedback, wait for her to give you the same, THEN report her. Just in case she neg's you in retaliation for reporting her and ebay dont remove it ;)
