I can't figure out why theyre is a change in the quality of TV signal at nighttime. There is nothing immedtaely obvious being turned on or off that would effect it.

I live in Northern ireland, using a freeview PCTV card. This problem has only started

have you recently installed any energy saving light bulbs? i know that sometimes they can affect electrical equipment.

Could be you're in a poor signal area and Freeview (or the people who manage your broadcast signal in NI) drop the quality at night or manage it so your signal drops on some channels.

Try using a booster from Argos. I get a very strong signal from mine. And don't share the signal with other stuff (VCR etc).

Could be something the neighbours are switching on?

It's Ok - got it figured. Most of what I record is at night and I use a PVR package called GB-PVR. There is a tray app that sits there - it seems to interfere with the recording somehow - once it is stopped, recordings are fine. Tnanks for help

I was gonna come up with a nice and clever explanation for how terrestrial signals differ over day and night periods but it's obviously not needed now. :)
