Thanks for the heads up Coolio- I'm considering ordering but am wondering if we'll be lucky enough to get the mmc card with preloaded applications with the refurb. If not, do you think I'd be able to return the package to a store given that this is a contract phone?

Thanks again

It says not to expect the extras but I read somewhere that often they are included, the only difference seems to be the brown box it comes in.

I ordered Friday morning and my status changed from Verifying with network to Order in Progress late yesterday afternoon so I will report back when mine arrives as it seems to be going through (have had only one out of 8 orders with The Link accepted before due to my strange address format), but fingers crossed on this one.

It does say 5 working days though/before Friday 17th.

Cheers, I'll give it some thought- it's a fantastic offer. I'm on talk and text 600 right now (2 months left) and have had only good things from 3. Expect the full 5 working days from the link- I ordered something the other month and it definately wasn't quick.

Thanks

Is the 3 network any good nowadays? Had some of their earlier handsets, the e313 and e616 but both the phones and the network were garbage, especially anywhere that wasnt a motorway or a city centre.

both those were terrible phones. It does depend where you live but you should be able to get some sort of signal anywhere. Its always improving 3G coverage wise. I think they were putting something like 1500 masts up in an 8 month period.

Just want to further highlight that this is a "Refurbished" phone.

What does refurbished mean?

Refurbished mobile phones are handsets that have been returned from our stores to our central refurbishment centre. Here we fully test and inspect the handsets to ensure that they are suitable for sale. We replace any parts that are faulty and where possible replace casings. They are then re-boxed in plain packaging with a mains charger. Instructions are included if available.Although the phone may have originally come with selected accessories(i.e. data cable or memory card), we cannot guarantee that they will be supplied with the refurbished handset. If you recieve any additional items with your handset then its a bonus.

The handset should look virtually as good as new and comes complete with a standard 12-month warranty from The Link.

I had two refurbished 6630s just before xmas.
Both were perfect, with the film still on the screen and all the extras.
This is effectively £5 a month for 400 mins and 250 txts (if you trade in a broken phone)
What exactly do you think could go wrong?

12-02-2006, 20:25
Two things - been with 3 for 6 months ish and the coverage has been fine for me. I've also got the same phone and other than the stupid slider protector on the back of the camera, its a great phone.

Looks a great deal to me.

Some more software at Nokia UK (http://www.nokia.co.uk/nokia/0,8764,71259,00.html) site including Nokia LifeBlog, Photoshop Album, Photo and Movie editor for the phone.

I'm guessing that the PDF file required for the Cashback will appear under Feb 06 on The Link Cashback (http://www.thelink.com/martprd/store/lin_page.jsp?BV_SessionID=@@@@0022341930.1140303853@@@@&BV_EngineID=ccdkaddgmmkfhedcflgceggdhhmdgmk.0&page=GenericEditorial&genericeditorial=chequeback_offers_feb06) page at the end of the month. [Customer Services at top - Cashback offers if link with sess id doesnt work]. (Added link to thread as no doubt in 3 months I'll have lost the form or crashed the hard drive)

Went for this even though I've already taken out a 12 months free deal. Looks a good phone no obvious signs that its been used before apart from missing film on screen and full charge on battery.

Has anybody ported a previous 3 number back to 3 after moving it to another network (PAYG) ? Or do they pick up on this and not allow it ?

pull flap open with fingernail, it can be stiff
push card in with fingernail, contacts up, until it locks
close flap

Anyone received their receipt yet, it says it will be posted seperately
but you can't claim any of the cash back without it. (or do the trade in deal)

Coolio,

If your having diffs could it be that you still have the adapter connected?
Gently press the little triangle and seperate the smaller section at the front reducing the card by about 50% and then see if it fits.

It can be tricky so be gentle with it watching the contacts on the underside of the card.

All sorted now. Just ordered tomtom 5, along with all the gubbins. Only problem I've got is that the phone refuses to talk to my pc. Nokia suite is recognising it, but whenever I try to do something (move images, for example), I get an error with the connection. Also, on closer inspection of the memory card, I've found some weird stuff on there.

mmm
mvengine
mvps-headsup
mvps-make my day
mvps-entertain
mvps-justus
mvps-honeybun
mvps-getaway
mvps-departure
mvps-fastlane
mvps-mozart
mvps-game on

No idea what any of those are, but they show up under applications (although none seem to be installed). Can't get nokia pc suite and the damn phone to communicate at all, other than to recognise each other. :( Now off to try connecting through bluetooth. Help???

Oops...just tried removing one (MMM) and now the phone has frozen. Looks like they are all FOC nokia apps that have been left on the memory card, but not installed on the phone. Can't uninstall them because they haven't actually been installed on this particular phone. Looks like I may have to wipe the memory card, reformat then put back the stuff that should be on there (minus all the extra non-installed crap).

Thanks for the OP.

Unfortunately shockingly terrible service from The Link.

Ordered two phones on 13th. Just told today that they cancelled the order. They claimed first that the network had turned me down, but then when I said I had 2 contracts last year with 3 without problems, and that I would investigate. I actually just checked my credit rating last week, so know it is fine.

They then changed the story and claimed it was because they tried to call me to confirm I really wanted 2 phones, yet I had no missed calls or answerphone messages. Also claimed they had not received my email last week asking what had happened to my order.

I think it is just a bunch of lies because they are out of stock. Pretty poor. :(
