View Full Version : Dekalog on R2
I hope this hasn't already been posted but ...
It seems artificial eye are to release Dekalog in February. Its released on two separate DVD's (first features parts 1-5, second the remaining five parts) and is available on pre-order from those fine chaps over at Play for the sum of 17.99.
I had been trying to cut back to one DVD a week, but theres just too much good stuff coming out over the next few months :(.

How true!
I've not even got around to buying the 'Three Colours' trilogy yet.
Thanks for the good news on 'Dekalog' - I'd not heard it before!
If you're interested in the three colours trilogy, you get get all three separately from www.chaosmusic.com for about £30 delivered!! R4 but they look pretty similar to the R2's. No word on Dekalog for R4 though.
-oops just read the thread below!! Still.... a bargain like this is worth repeating!! :o

That's certainly not a bad price compared to the $70 bare bones R1 version reviewed here (http://www.dvdtalk.com/reviews/read.php?id=1805)

Indeed - I paid over 50 quid for the now OOP US set last year, and I still think they are worth it that much. I'd say grab them at £36 for the pair and you won't be dissappointed!

I'm a bit bemused by the "excellent" rating for picture and sound that DVD Savant gave in that review - "barely adequate" would be nearer the mark! There's loads of room for improvement, and given Artificial Eye's generally excellent track record, I suspect it may get it.

Check out the Three Colours thread before considering an order. Turns out the R4 editions are taken from the VHS masters and aren't a patch on the R2 discs. :(

Is this for 'R2 Three Colours Trilogy' or 'R1 Dekalog?'

I was talking about Facets/Image's R0 Dekalog - Artificial Eye/MK2's Three Colours trilogy is about as good as we're ever likely to get. Which is why, as I said, I imagine their Dekalog will be a distinct improvement.
