Hi,
Was just wondering.
When you have a player that can be hacked to play region one-do you have to do the hack each time you want to play the region one,or only once and it works for good?
ie: if the next disk is a region two and the player you are hacking is region two,do you have to do the hack again to play your next region one.
And how do the hackable players cope with RCE?
I know the answers depend on the player-But I'd like to know at least generally what happens

Generally,
There are 3 types of hackable player
Region 0: You apply the hack and the player has no region code anymore. It'll play any region but RCE disks defeat it. The cheapest players are often of this sort.
Manual change: You have to apply the hack everytime you put in a region 1 disk or sometimes everytime you want to change regions.
Auto region change: You put the disk in, the player checks the region and changes itself.
Some players have a region free setting and a manual setting to get round those pesky RCE disks.

Erm... i normally find that the cheaper DVD's (goodmans, bush etc) cope perfectly well RCE discs -- i've never had any problems on my old bush :)

Thanks,
the reason for the question, was someone asked me about the Wharfie-the cheap tesco one-whats the story there?

The original wharfdale 750 had a hack that made it region free and couldn't play RCE disks.
Then they bought out a version which could be made auto region and had a manual region select. It played RCE fine, even in auto mode. This was still the 750, it could be identified by having the DTS logo on the box.
Then came the 750s which worked the same as the latter 750.
I have the 750S -- its in my little girls room -- I had to send it back to Tesco's because it completely lost the sound, they did something to it and sent it back, working fine but back to normal (Region 2) -- not sure if this had anything to do with the hack (it worked for months after I 'hacked' it).
Nothing to do with the hack. They're just fairly shodily made. Mine developed a really strange fault after only a couple months of owning it. It started stretch the picture down from the top. It was a weird effect, anyway, I just got a refund.
