I just watched this for the first time last night ! and thought it was a bit to dark anyone agree

To be honest, no! Can't say I noticed a problem - its a pretty dark film anyway isn't it? Looked really good to me, esp. the scenes in the covert ops van and the abbatoir -- the deep reds and blues look great.
Without wishing to sound too patronising (and failing), have you checked the brightness & contrast on your telly? Sorry if that sounds a bit insulting!

I have set my settings to the THX optimizer setup and it is still a little dark. I have also noticed there are thin black vertical lines in few parts of the film. It still great to have the dvd but the video version is more lighter !
Sounds to me like you should get a replacement. Mine is fine and my DVD player is one of the cheapest available!
I have heard that the THX Optimiser should be avoided at all costs, but I think that was in relation to the Geometry set-up for flat widescreens.
I know I couldn`t get a perfect rectangle! :brickwall
