or will the market become flooded with pan & scam for all the new DVD owners?
According to SKY News
The DVD player has become the fastest growing consumer entertainment product of all time, according to new research.

I doubt it. In the UK, we are going more and more widescreen all the time. :D

Amamzing that Gladiator has sold 940,000 copies!!

No we won't see the market flooded, everyone who buys a dvd player will instantly learn by some magical process about OAR and learn to enjoy films as the director intended.
I see the scenario as follows buy dvdplayer, buy widescreen dvd, notice black bars and buy widescreen tv if not already owner of one. Learn to appreciate films and DD/dts sound buy surround sound system. etc etc etc
But there are still black bars!!!!!!!!! :brickwall
I heard that you can send back the second disc to solve "problems"...
Seriously though, I did think Columbia Tristar's handling of that situation was good.
