CD/DVD writing software

I've not previously owned a DVD writer and I am looking for some software to use with one. I did use CDRWIN to burn CD's and now it seems I need software to burn DVD and different software to burn CD?? :thinking:

Can anyone recommend a product to burn both, or individually?

Nero is the most popular, but the latest version is very bloated.
I now use Ashampoo, small, simple and it works great.

I've always used Nero and had never had any problems. You can download a 30 day trial.

I'm using the latest version of Nero 6 (version 6.6.1.4)

I used Nero 7 for a while but it was buggy and irritated me!!

Used it for (must be) 10 years with never a problem.

www.svp.co.uk do a cheap version of it and that should cover most bases for you. I'd not bother with version 7 unless you are buying a HD-DVD/Blu-Ray burner. Let Nero sort through the teething problems with 7 too.

Or, if you're on a tight budget, CD Burner XP is free. It burns CDs and DVDs quite happily.

Cant stand the bloated mess that is Nero (hundreds of megs IIRC).

Nero 6.6 is 34mb and is fine for most people. Nero 7 is bloated for sure (103mb) and it looks like you have to download the full shebang.

There is no doubt though Nero works well and more importantly has millions of testers (customers) most other burning applications don't. The benefit of that is problems are fixed quickly IME.

Their Start Smart user interface is also very easy to understand.
