View Full Version : Craig-Y-Nos, Country Park, Nr Neath
Popped along there today with the family. Not planned, but Dan-Yr-Ogof caves, just up the road, were shut!! Not sure why, but it gave us an opportinity to visit this place instead. Never even heard of it before. I was hoping to get an entry for picture of the week, which I haven't entered for ages, so was dissapointed initially, but as it happened it was quite a cool place. Here's a couple of snaps -

Some nice moody ones there mate! I like the wide angle shot of the huge log (I assume it was the super wide?). Also the last shot reminds me of the photo with which you won a weekly comp couple of months ago
Where was that taken btw - St Fagan's?

I've been there many times as I only live 5 miles away. It's a great place to go when you want to unwind after a stressful week at work.
I like the composition of your pics swsxp02
I'd like to add a few more pictures which I took last September I think.

Matholwch, cheers. I made them a bit moody because the 'out of the can' images were pretty dire. It was a cold, damp day and the shots I took were dull and lifeless. An example is shown below. Yeah, you're right, the log shot was taken on the 10-22mm lens, right up close and used the 'bug-eyed' end of the zoom. The comp entry shot was taken in Roath Park, between the greenhouse and playground. Reminds me though, I've been meaning to get to St Fagans for ages.
Uncle Stewie, some nice shots there, looks like you've had much better weather than we had, still if you're only 5 miles away I guess you can pop along at any time. Nice part of the world to live! We didn't explore all of it though, maybe if we're passing again.
Anyhow, if the shots look a little 'over-processed' it's probably because they needed so much processing just to make them look acceptable. Here's a before and after.

You did a good job there swsxp02. Made the shot look very atmospheric.
Hope you don't mind but I gave your shot a once over with unsharp mask but, although it did look sharper, it lost some of the atmosphere which is probably what you were trying to acheive.
