I read in DVD Review that Josie and the Pussycats comes out today and in mind that the gorgeous Rachael Leigh Cook is in this I'm rushing into town to get a copy :)
But I was wondering wether this version will be cut as I know there is a cut and uncut version available in America and Canada...
Anyone know?
Thanx :)
I must admit, I was not aware of any cut/uncut versions on Region 1. I just bought it when it came out a few months back not expecting any cutting troubles. I really don't see what could have been cut out anyway - it's a fairly harmless film surely?!
RLC does look absolutely gorgeous in it though - well worth buying just to have a dribble.....:D

I dont think theres anything cut from the R2, but it does lose some extra features & a commentary.
Avoid & buy the R1.
Excellent film btw.:)

Ah but I'll have to wait for it to ship and arrive and I can't be arsed to wait that long. But maybe I should. Decisions, decisions...
The R2 release doesn't have the lesbian full frontal nude scene with Rachael Leigh Cook and Tara Reid.:D
dunno for certain, but the R1 also has a DTS soundtrack which will no doubt be lost over here......(if that sort of thing bothers you).

To be honest the R2 does lose a fair bit, as someone else pointed out you lose the DTS track as well as the commenteries & some extras.
This wouldnt be quite so bad if the film was rubbish anyway but its really alot of fun and has a fairly big replay value.
Although you will have to wait if you buy the R1, I still think its worth it considering how much you lose on the R2 & the fact that the R1 is even cheaper than the poorer R2.

I've gone and just bought the r2 and just watching it now...
I might replace it sometime. What are the commentry and extras like that are missing?

I found the commentary a bit dull - however I did only listen to about half of it though.
The R1's lesbian scene, while being quite erotic and adventurous for this type of film, left me bored stiff... and its been done to death in similar films like Legally Blonde, Heartbreakers and 102 Dalmations.
Yeah - stick with the R2

Additionally, the camera work was nothing like as intense as that exhibited in a similar scene found in Home Alone 3 -- the close-ups were all there, but I found that the editing and pacing severely detracted from the ... er, performances of Ms. Cook and Ms. Reid. The camera was somewhat unstable, creating a fair amount of digital artifacting, which as you can probably imagine is just no good in a lesbian sex scene. You're not missing much, although I would recommend checking out R1 if you are a fan of the erotic genre.

For some. I thought the film was a real chore to enjoy. The satire was so heavy handed and obvious that it sucked all the enjoyment out of what should have been an enjoyable piece of fluff. I tried listening to the commentary to determine why these people thought they had made a decent film and all I got was another one of those hand jobs: everyone was fabulous, we had so much fun doing this, it was so cold shooting that day.... blah, blah blah.
The only possibly worthwhile extra missing would be the DTS track. I didn't check out the DD track as I was in such a hurry to return it to the rental store. I expect it would have used the same mix as the DD track, so any improvement would have been marginal.

I thought the lesbian scene from Bound was much more tastefully done.
The one on the R1 Josie was just there for gratuuitous titilation. There really is no need to show muff in a film like this.
I would stick with the R2. It flows much better without the lesbian love scene ie. you won't need to press PAUSE and SLOW MOTION all the time.
