View Full Version : Panic Room Teaser
Panic Room Teaser (http://homepage.mac.com/davidfincher/.Movies/panicroom.mpg)
I thinks that is right, just right click and download, if all else fails head on over to Dark Horizons (http://www.darkhorizons.com/news.htm) to find it there too.
Teaser looks good, you can definately tell it's a Fincher film just from the look of it. Looking forward to this one.:D

15mb!!! i should be so lucky with my dial-up connection :(
just have to wait till it appears on the silver screen.
Following Fincher's history, he seems to do average film - then excellent film -- then average -- then excellent. But considering he's only done 4 films, it would be be pretty stupid to take most of what i've said seriously. :(
tj, I have a lowly 56K dial up and i managed to do it this morning. Took about 1 hour 10 minutes. Have you not got a spanking new DVD that's begging to be watched in which time this'll download in no time.:D
That Spiderman one that was posted was a bit of a killer too.

unfortunately my Mum will kick me off within that time to use the phone. I suppose if i use Getright or something, i could download it pretty painlessly.. we shall see :)

nice work robby, downloaded it in just under 5 minutes :) and lapped it up. looks pure "Fincher" to me and seems every bit as good as we've been expecting so far. anyone know the release date yet?
also, i see it was labelled panic room at the end, whereas previously i thought it was going to be called "the panic room".
I noticed that too Ben, i don't know why they changed it, does sound better though.
I agree it is 'pure Fincher' which IMO is a good thing. The film looks like it could be really claustrophobic which hopefully will make this a real edge of your seat film. I remember reading on AICN ages ago that some people didn't like the test screenings, so i guess we'll have to wait and see. I personally don't think Fincher has made a bad movie yet so i'm looking forward to this one.
Is it just me, or is this trailer unbelievably dark (even for a Fincher film) ?
I don't think the title at the end is final. It looks like it was just tagged on there (& it's in the same font as the 'final cut for MPAA approval' line along the bottom)
Looks good though. Have to agree with Robby, don't think Fincher's made a duff film yet. I even love Alien 3!
Andy
I agree Alien 3 was excellent (better than Alien, not as good as Aliens) and The Game was even better!

me too - i edited my post above and took out the word "still" which i now realise made it seem i was saying panic room looked good 'despite' being a fincher movie!
that said, i wasn't overly enamoured with alien 3, though it was superbly well-made and all the elements i don't like (story, characters) fincher didn't have any control over. he wasn't who he is now in the "weight" department. i like the game, but se7en and fight club are in a totally different league and hopefully panic room will be joining them.
Madm@tt - alien 3 better than alien?!! fair enough if that's your opinion but i'm sure the vast majority, even on these forums, would say that it's not even as good as aliens.
where's APPRIA when you need him to ask "are you on crack?" !! :D
I just like the way Fincher's films look full stop. I'm rather ashamed that i don't know the name of his cinamatographer, but he must use the same one because they all have that 'Fincher' look.
If there is director i would make sure to see their films on the big screen, Fincher is that person. Fight Club just blew me away when i saw it, i thought (technically) it was far superior to the Matrix which was released a couple of months previously. I was too young to see Se7en, Alien 3 and the Game when they were released theatrically.
I'm not sure how advanced this next film will be, if any, but i like the way he focus' and pans along inanimate objects. Like the car park bomb sequence and the explanation of how the Fridge explodes in Fight Club. From the look of this new trailer it seems he has set up the whole 'Panic Room' as another character in the movie. Which is interesting when so much of the story is set in this house. (I acknowledge this technique is nothing new, just by today's standards i like the way Fincher accomplishes it visually)
One thing is for sure i bet even if the movie turns out to flop at the BO he'll make sure the DVD will be on par to Se7en and Fight Club.
Just out of interest does anyone know who is distributing/owns Panic Room?.

I've only got a sh*tty 56K modem so...... But how the hell did you download it it that time!?
Prolly got Broadband. Alright for some!!! :D
Yeah mate :(
I've been trying to download it but at different point my connections just seems to stall and there seems to be nothing I can do about starting it up again? Any tips for downloaded large files?
I've only ever used Download Accelerator Plus for anything i download. Not sure of the specific URL but i'm sure you can get it at download.com (http://www.download.com)
Try that if you don't have it, it also supports a resume feature which is handy if you don't want to d/l all in one go.

robby is right, i've got broadband. my cable connection meant i could download that file at an average speed of 53.58k/sec. that said, i still used the same piece of software to get it that i would recommend to you on a 56k modem - especially if you keep getting cut off: FlashGet (http://www.nease.net/~chart/fgf10.exe)
i've used almost every download manager there is, including the industry leaders getright and gozilla, but none of them are a patch on this program. the only slight thing against it is that the unregistered version contains adverts (spyware), but a keygen - not that i'm recommending you use one of course! - will fix that, and then a program like ad-aware (which you ought to run anyway) will clean the ad components off your system. not as much hassle as it sounds, and believe me it's worth it. as with other download managers this will just pick up where it left off with your file after you re-establish your internet connection.

i know what you mean, but in fact this is not the case. fincher has used different cinematographers on all four of his features so far. however, that just shows how much of the 'look' of a david fincher movie is down to the talent of the man himself.
that said, the IMDb lists two cinematographers for the panic room, the second of whom - Darius Khondji - was the cinematographer on se7en.

comingsoon.net (http://www.comingsoon.net/movies/p/panicroom.php) says that sony pictures own this one, so i guess it's going to be a columbia tristar release.
/slaps forehead /
D'oh i forgot to look on IMDB for that kind of info. Cheers Ben!.:o
ooooh... wicked trailer... looks very interesting!
Panic Room reminds me a bit of Wait Until Dark, which is no bad thing!
