View Full Version : Should I upgrade my AMP?
I have a Videologic Digitheatre DD 5.1 and am currently looking at upgrading this. I am thinking about getting a new amp but keeping the speakers and sub that came with the digitheatre. First of all is this possible and what improvements will I get from a more expensive amp. Would I need new speakers as well. I have a relativly small room 9 x 12 feet.
I have a budget of about £500.

If you want my honest opinion, then ditch the digitheatre and speakers and head for Richer Sounds.
You will get a decent amp with DD/dts for £250 or under (stay away from sherwoods, they tend to blow up easy) and a good quality speaker package for £250 or under.
Looking at their latest ad i would demo the Kenwood 5050 and the Eltax speaker system with the dipoles for rears, total cost £480. Just a pointer for you.
With £500 and some well chosen products you will have a system that out performs the digitheatre 10 times over. Dont be tempted to get an expensive amp and then use the crap plasticy sounding speakers you have, this is a waste!
If you want any more help give me a e-mail and we can discuss.

Just got the Yamaha DSP-AX620 from Richer for £299 - superb amp and £100 less than Dixons!
Also got a pair of celestion F10's.
Instantly transformed my set-up for £420
I have been looking at some speakers and like the look of the Mission M71 as they are well priced and small. What I need to know is why they come in non matching pairs and are the suitable for front and rear?
