So is there anybody out there who would advise me against buying these babies??

Floorstanders are a no-no, need something 'discrete' and not needing a sweet spot for placement

current best price is £610

Cheers ;)

Have heard them a few times now and they are very good. Far better than the bose acoustamas range.

Go hear them and i bet you will be signing a cheque there and then.

My friend bought these and is extremely happy with them.

Having read reviews on the news and from What Hifi Hifi CHoice no one has a bad word to say about them at the price.... RRP £800 !!!

However the stands whioch look nice are absolutley s***e so finding some good stands that look tyhe part are a pain.

WHere on earth did you see them for £610 ???

I heard them recently and was impressed. Like all discreet systems, the sub (and mid) woofer is definately needed to beef-up the sound. It's not so good on 2 channel sound when compared to a Hi-Fi setup but for ~£600 there's not much better.

Certainly better than Bose but also try and find the Aego 5 system from Acoustic Energy. I've only heard the 2 channel system but was very impressed as were the other people at the HiFi show demo.

The deal was done via HiFiJunkies and Audio-T in Enfield. I bought an amp a few weeks ago from HFJ (Denon 2802 £470 (collect only, saving on delivery charge) and asked about the speakers then. You can try mailing them or giving them a ring (ask for Jason) Not sure what they'll say, but it's worth a try.

They don't come with any cable, so bought some QED micro (£1.50 pm)(Any opinions on this?) and they threw in a 3m SW interconnect.

Good luck ;)

Another speaker system that is discrete and very forgiving of placement is Missions FS2AV system which can be found for a little over £420. Very well reviewed and regarded.

worthit ... thanks 4 that ... I'd certainly be interested in how you think they sound when U get them up & running ... I have a real "pick N mix" speaker array (different fronts rears & centres) & would like to go down the sub/sat route as I have a small room (15'x12')
I mostly listen to 5.1 movies & music - even listen to CD's in 5 channel "stereo" -
Keep us posted ... Paul ;)

Would love to own the KEF eggs but funds a bit low just now but on looking @ the richer sounds cataloge i came across the limit/synn PB583 speaker package @ £299.95 which has speakers very much like the KEF'S in fact from the picture they are identical.
Has anyone purchased these or has anyone heard them demo'd?

So has anyone got an opinion on speaker cable?

While the QED micro will be fine for the rears, and easier to 'hide', will I notice much difference if I upgrade to say, QED Silver, for the fronts and centre? (or any other suggestions)

Thanks

Worthit - You got an update for us on these? I'm very tempted myself. How well do they work with your amp?

Interested in hearing a verdict on scubabobs question also.

No new news at the moment (so why post?) I'm still fiddling with placement etc. and we've just taken the decorations down. I promised  to decorate before I set them up properly, so will let you know.
Had a few friends round New Years Eve and they sounded fine with 'Digital' Virgin Radio on thru Sky (5 channel stereo mode). As for films, haven't had a real workout yet, toyed with some scenes from SPR and Jurassic Park though. DTS sounds amazing :D

Worthit, just for your info, Kef recommend you accumulate about 30+hours of use for the eggs before critical listening. They take a fair bit of running in before they start to really sing.

Thanks Richard, is there a level you shouldn't take them above?like running in a car.

I'm keeping them around the - 18db mark, though they went quite a bit higher on New Years Eve. Can they be damaged at a higher level?

Worthit, can't comment on running-in levels, but why not visit the Kef site and leave their tech team a message? They got back to me pretty quickly.

I heard these round one of my mates, and think they would be perfect for my bedroom.

Finnaly decided on some speakers after months of looking around, Woo!

Unfortunately the KEF 2005's are the most expensive of all I looked at.........Where is the best place online to buy them......preferably under £750 as I have a tight budget here and will still need some cabling.

Thanks Baps, he lives near me aswell

Just waiting a reply to see if they are sold though. If they are not still avaliable, where else can I get them for a reasonable price?

I don't want to have to travel 100's of miles to have to get a bargain.

I recall a thread recently where a bloke had them for about £620 and then someone said they knew where to get them for £580 odd.

Also if you look at the Home Cinema Choice forum (cough) there is a similar thread on there with them for about £580 odd.
