Hi,

i currently have a BT Voyager 2100 wireless router that i use with my PC to connect to the net wirelessly and also to connect to another windows xp computer i have.

What i was wondering is, will i be able to use this router with a Mac computer to connect to the internet and other windows based computers on a network?

Or will i need to buy a different kind of router?

Thanks in advance for any advice.

A modem/router (wireless or non) isn't OS specific, so the only thing you need to make sure is that the Mac has wireless capabilities (I think it's called Airport, although I'm sure someone will correct me if I've got that wrong) and, if so, it should be able to connect to the router just fine.

Someone else will be able answer about networking between OS X and Windows XP.

Yep everything will be fine, brother in law's got a Powerbook and he connects up via my linksys router fine, file transfers between XP Pro and OS X are simple as well.

set mine up months ago so I've forgotten most of the detail but I recall that making the a/c name and password to the same on both computers was required as well as the normal sharing drives procedure.

Also it's easier (don't know why) to share folders than the root of a drive (which is possible) something to do with the way SMB/CIF interacts with XP.

If you can't get the info you need here try the official Apple Discussions site where there are some very helpful people http://discussions.apple.com/index.jspa?categoryID=1
