I have a really simple question (at least I think it's simple)
I just bought a HUGE TV with a progressive scan DVD player. One of my friends told me they make progressive cables. Is that true, becuase I can't find them anywhere. Also, if they don't, I can use just any normal RCA cables right? They deliver both the TV and DVD player tomorrow, so I need to get the cables soon :)

Thanks in advance.

Welcome to the forums,

Your question is not rare, but it is a mostly misunderstood technology. To use progressive scan signals you need to be using a Plasma screen, or set with component inputs which accept Prog scan. You can also use Prog scan with projectors and scalers.

What type of tv do you now own?
What player do you have?

I hate to say it but unless it is a Plasma or Lowre Tv you will not be able to use prog scan. This is because no other TV sets, no matter how large can do prog scan.

Just noticed you are in the US. Check that your TV accepts prog scan through component and connect this way(only way to output and recieve prog scan).

For English readers beware of the salesman. No TV's in this country apart from lowre or a plasma set (or projector) will accept prog scan signals.

I have this tv http://www.digitalconnection.com/HomeTheater/mm52110.htm

and this DVD

I hope that it'll work or Ill be sad :(

So it would just use regular RCA Cables then?

Thanks again

WolskiDK,

Yep, those should work fine together and give you a great picture in NTSC Deinterlaced (prog). Just connect them up using the component input/outputs. You can use rca plugs but i would spend some money on good quality cable.

Have fun and let me know how you get on,

Cheers
Phil.
