View Full Version : Urban Ghost Story
This one nearly passed me by but I stumbled across a review of it in this months Total dvd and suddenly remembered that it was one that I meant to keep an eye out for ( never did arrive at my local cinema ) Has anyone seen this? and any ideas as to what the dvd is like?
*WARNING MILD SPOILER*
If your expecting a ghost/horror story than avoid like the plague, as its not really about that. I was very disappointed with it, as was the mrs.
It really bored me stupid, i heard a bit of hype about this film too, but i was ****** off for parting with money for renting this rubbish. If you really must see it, then wait till it comes on TV
Should have been titled "Urban Domestic Problems Story"
that bad eh? couldn't find a bad review of it anywhere so assumed that it must at least rate as middling :(

I saw it at the world premiere at the Edinburgh Film Festival and was hugely impressed - you have to make allowances for the budget, but if you fancy The Haunting as remade by Ken Loach on a Glasgow housing estate you could do a lot worse than this!
Bear in mind, though, that it's very much a subtle, suggestive chiller in the vein of The Haunting (the original), The Blair Witch Project and The Others (much of the creative energy has gone into the soundtrack) - so if your taste in horror is for something more graphic and upfront, it's probably not for you.
For what it's worth, a full review of the DVD (which I have, but have yet to watch) will be up shortly.
Thanks Micheal - actually ordered the disc b4 I recieved an answer on this thread! ( only £12.99 at under18 for anyone that is interested ;) ) 'The Haunting as remade by Ken Loach on a Glasgow housing estate' sounds not to be missed :D look forward to reading your review :)

cheers peeps
Hey, thanks for this info. I just won a copy and wasn't even going to watch it.
But now I shall.:)
Boink!
Watched this last night and was pretty impressed - a few minor quibbles ( I'm not a big fan of Jason Connery :D ) but on the whole was very pleased with it. Certainly a keeper.
