View Full Version : Ben Hur
Is the current release of Ben Hur a flipper?
If your talking about th R1 version, yes it is. Don't be put off though it dosn't detract from the film in any way. Outstanding film with geat picture and sound quality and a whole host of decent extras.

It is a very long movie that was filmed with an intermission, so the break doesn't really detract. I'd rather they did this than compromise the quality by compressing it further.

I'll have to agree with you re not further compression, but why not make it a double disc? Or put the extra material on a separate disc? A little more expensive maybe, but worth it.
The reason is that I don't like to have data on both sides. Worried about scratches, dust, fingerprints and all that...
And with a printed label all discs look so much nicer :-)

Warner used DVD-18 because they didn't want a 2 disc release due to complaints about their 2 disc storage method in the snapper cases.

Agree the method used for Any Given Sunday & JFK Special Edition of 2nd disk in paper slip case which goes in a flap inside the cover was rubbish. Why don't they use in R1 the gatefold type arrangement we got in R2 for the Matrix 2 disk release last week.

Warner US partly owns the company that makes the snapper cases, so it works out cheaper for them to use snappers.
