My local college has just updated thier computers and sold off their old ones , one of which i have aquired, without ANY discs though.

It is an apple mac Laptop but it still has all the college ID on it throughout ( logos and idents etc ), can these be removed and if so how do i go about it?

Will i need any apple mac discs to do this and how would i go about getting them ?

If it is not easily removed could i completely format the Laptop and replace the operating system with windows ?

Any help would be gratefully appreciated

Don't know about removing the various identifiers but I do know that you can't install windows on a mac machine unless you're running an emulator under mac o/s.

You can't install Windows, but you can install Linux or similar Unix type operating systems (in fact MacOS X is based on BSD Unix). I would have thought that all the identifiers etc were just the equivalent of a desktop theme in Windows though.

Find out if it is Tiger (http://www.apple.com/uk/macosx/) compatible. It's £89 to upgrade if you don't have it already or less if you can get a student discount.
Was any software licences included in the sale or was the college lazy.
