We know that this button activated the reverse thrusters. I've heard that it might stand for "Inverse Maneuvers" but it's anybody's guess. Maybe it's "Industrial Magic", since it was suggested that the IL-series Cylons were named after "Industrial Light". Dykstra leaves his mark, in addition to the "**** You" lights on Caprica. There are some quick scenes shown now and then where the wording on the joystick is very different from "Fire", "Turbo", and "IM". Instead we see what looks like "Stores" on the left, and some other wording on the other two. It leaves me with the impression that the Viper joystick was derived from some sort of remote camera controller, and in some scenes they forgot to change the lettering. I guess they thought that since the scene is shown so quickly there isn't enough time for the discrepancy to register in the viewer's mind. Except us, of course.

thruster - Accelator/decelerator (Viper) ; forward thrusters - accelerator; reverse thrusters - decelerator, or inverse maneuver (IM); full battle thrusters - maximum fighting speed.
