Hi all

Ive got 2 technics speakers currently hooked up to my 1070 amp using qed silver ani.

Ive also got some chepo speakers that have phono connections and was wondering if i could use those as my fronts by using the pre outs cause they look like phono connections - and use the technics as the rears via the qed.

what are pre outs for anyway??

also just outa interest - does any one know where i can get a cable for my sblive that does spdif out (from the sc) to a coaxil or optical out - i could get a hoontech io board but they are v expensive??

cheers

pre outs send an un-amplified signal to (usually) an amplifier so if you connect speakers to them directly you will hear nothing (maybe some interference/noise or something). Depending on how the cable and phono connector is made up you might be able to chop off the phono plug and connect these into the normal speaker connectors like your technics ones. Theres should be two parts to the wire, a + and -.

Just wondering, why not use the cheapo speakers as rears instead? (if they work with the amp)

thx m8

when i meant chepo speakers - i ment the ones that came with me midi system which is pretty shyte - but i dunno if should cut the phonos off.

o - and i was gonna use them as fronts as the speaker wire is v short :)

I decided to try it and your right - nothing came out - guess ill have to wait till i buy a centre speaker and rears :(
