Help required.

I have a handset with Orange which is currently in contract. I want to replace with a new phone elsewhere.

I was wondering what the lowest tariff is that I can drop this to. I know Orange match other networks. The cheapest I could find was £15 per month.

Any advice appreciated.

I tried changing to that tariff last month, but Orange said that they have discontinued it. The next cheapest one down was £19 per month. I think it included 60 minutes a month.

Why don't you ask them how much it would cost you to buy out your contract? I did this, and it cost me (I think) £99. Therefore 99/6 = £16.50.

They fibbed - look at http://www.orange.co.uk/service_plans/paymonthly/services_price_guides.html - one at £14 (the Vodafone Business one) a few at £16 (O2/T-Mobile).

Orange have just told me that they will not match anything under £18 on OVP and unless I had a business account, they would not match any Vodafone business tariffs.

Is this correct?

Tesco value PAYG is 15p per minute for calls to landlines and any mobile network, their texts are 5p each.
£15 would get you 100 minutes at that price.
You'd need to already have, or buy a phone though.

edit
Just seen that they do another scheme offering 5p texts and 10p calls if you top up £15 per month. That would give 150 minutes.

Steve - the page I linked you to, is the consumer price guide has changed since I sent it to you - they have now explicitly excluded some tariffs for new connection.

Please note:
The following talkplans are no longer available on Orange Value Promise:

EQ T-Mobile Relax 25
T-Mobile Everyone Off-peak 200
Vodafone Anytime 30
EQ O2 25
EQ Vodafone Business

The cheapest one still available seems to be TM Freetime 750 £18.00

I expect its to do with the new tariffs they are introducing in April

Orange have now told me that the lowest is £19 and that the website is 3 months out of date. There also refered me to the terms and conditions.

8.3 We reserve the right to vary these terms & conditions at any time. Please call Orange Customer Services to confirm

Correct, sadly. They've binned all cheap OVPs and will be charging customers more from April 1. They seem hell-bent on losing customers...

Just to resurrect this thread, Virgin Mobile are now doubling their minutes for pay monthly tariffs, I think 100mins and 200 texts for £20 a month. This reduces to £16 after a year.

There are more deals at £25, £30, etc...
