View Full Version : Are the philips PW6006 series TV's any good?
I am looking for a 28/32" Widescreen TV. Can't spend too much or the wife will kill me. I think I've convinced her we need a WS TV to complete the Home Cinema setup. I liked the look of the Philips in Tescos but they wanted £499 for the 28". Unbeatable.co.uk have the 28" at £319 and the 32" at £484.
Has anyone got one of these TV's and if so are they any good. Also if there are good reasons not to buy the please let me know.
Thanks,
Jason

I've got one (bought from Unbeatable) and they're an absolute bargain at the price.
Picture quality is excellent, especially through RGB. Natural colours and loads of detail. Geometry is very decent too. Plenty of widescreen modes, fully NTSC compatible. What more could you ask for at the price?
Downsides? The only thing I can think of is an occasional small patch of colour that appears in a corner of the screen (like the telly needs degaussing. It's not caused by unshielded magnetic sources though, I've not got any near the TV). I've had the telly for about four months now and have seen it about five times, but it doesn't bother me much. Turning the telly off for about five seconds, then back on again clears it up every time. I know someone else has seen that problem too so it sounds like a minor design flaw.
Wouldn't stop me from buying it again though!

John, when you use the remote on the PW6006 does the light at the end light up ?
The reason Im asking is Iv just got my set and when I turned it on its stuck in standby and the remote does not seem to work.
Im getting it replaced but Im not sure if the remote is broken or the tv or both.
The buttons on the top dont allow me to turn the set on either.
Cheers
