View Full Version : Componant Video Cable required
Anyone know a source in the UK for a componant video cable wanting to connect my Toshiba DVD to the Tosh Telly, unable to find a source in the UK ? (surely !)
Amazon.com wont ship to the UK !!! Sheeeeesh.....
What about here (http://www.partmaster.co.uk/soundvis_pg1.html)
From what I understand, 3 composite video phono to phono leads is what you need for a component video cable.
Thanks folks but still no joy on this flamin Componant Video Cable.
Seems only place I can source them is the good `ole USA, 60 odd dollars ?
Spent ages last night on the net surfed every where UK wise cant find anyone that stocks them.
According to what I read this connection gives premier quality if your TV/DVD supports it which mine does.
Amazon wont ship the cable outside USA (Huh ?)
I got a 3 connector video cable from comet which fitted, but no picture...so must be summert special about them.
Its a bugger eh.
Nice site for cable bits tho..(cept if you are looking for the elusive componant video cable)
Any more thoughts on this, I am new to this DVD/TV Thingey Would be nice to free up a scart, and use this supported connection. Which is doing nowt at the mo.

In the UK you'll be best off asking at places that supply projectors, since they tend to have Component Video inputs.

No, there isn't -- what you have should work (although it's probably not ideal). Did you connect it up properly? Is the DVD set to output Component Video?
Not the cheapest, but try here (www.cablelogic.co.uk/acatalog/Online_Catalogue_High_end_Component_Cables_4.html)

Visit a reputable dealer near you, i seem to remember a practical hifi near bolton. Like it has been said a good quality cable with rca plugs either end x 3 will work fine. Make sure it is good quality cable. Expect to pay about £30 for quality.
Cheers all for your input, managed to order online from a UK supplier courtessy of ragner.
Thanks for all your input. Learned alot from it.
Just hope the bloody thing works now !

Out of interest it's not the Tosh SD500 or SD900 and the Tosh 40WH08B by any chance is it, becuase I was seriously looking at these as they had component video.
Opted for the 69 quid cable :-(
Not cheap, but still any port in a storm.
Have the Toshiba 36inch Widescreen, (36zp18p)
And the Toshiba SD110E DVD
My first venture into DVD (and widescreen) very impressed with it so far.
Mate loned me some DVD`s today to enhance my collection of 1
I am knocked over by the quality.
My main problem is all my scarts are over subscribed as it is, so worth paying for the cable to free one up, and hopefully enjoy the extra quality of componant video.
Could you post on here after you've received and tried your new cable please sir, as I have a Toshiba TV too, and was also tempted to buy a new set of specialist component cables for it.
Thanks very much!

bit like bolting the stable door i know but here goes.
A company called VDC in london (tel 020 7700 2777 sell all sorts of cables for the AV industry
the cable you would want is a RGBS cable ie 4 bnc-bnc cables,
great quality ( can run signals up to 50 m)
the price for a 1m is £21.15 +v or £ 31.39+v for a 5 m
they do all sorts of cables inc audio etc
hope this helps
Yonmons was after a component cable with phono connections not BNC ones.
I have jusy bought the tosh 210 to give tosh tv from sound and vision tel 01204861861
And they have recommended some componet leads which should be £69 and they gave them to me for cost £40 sorry not sure what make will let you know when delivered friday.
thanks
mike
Mike....BUGGER !
Thats the firm I got my kit off.
All is not lost the firm I ordered the cable off have been on to the wife, I have cocked up my start/end dates on my card.
Sounds like an opportunity to call in Sound and Vision and see about a cable (less than a mile away)
