Anyone ever heard of this Italian film?
Yes!
It's directed by Dario Argento, as part of his 'Animals' trilogy.
Next!!

Well do you know where I can get it? My mum watched it years ago and has been looking for it ever since! Please if you have any idea! I saw it a while ago on a rare video site for £30 or something!! Not doing that...
It's one of the few Argentos not to be released onto DVD yet. Paramount plan to do a release for 2002 sometime apparently. As Narshty says, it is part of the animals trilogy that started with Bird with the Crystal Plumage (to be found on the VCI label) and finished with Cat 'o' Nine Tails (released in an excellent edition fairly recently by Anchor Bay).
Let's hope Paramount do this great little film justice.

So is 4 flies actually any good then? I can't trust my mum! :D She'll be happy to know it's out next year :):)
Don't get too excited about a dvd release - unless I've missed something it's only been mentioned as a possibility and I think 2002 would be very optimistic! Hope it does happen though, but this all stems from a thread on another Home Cinema forum where Paramount were inviting suggestions for future releases. It was a popular choice so they've promised to look into it...
VHS copies - mostly literally 'copies' ;) - pop up every now and then on ebay, so it isn't too hard to track down if you're not concerned about the quality...
As pmdf said, Martin Blythe, Paramount DVD all-round big man, asked for what titles people wanted in the summer.
This post after the poll from mid-June (by Martin Blythe):
Since some of you are getting agitated about the poll results, here is where we are. I submitted ALL the most requested titles, which came out between 40 and 50 in number. The list was well received here. The next step is to check out the state of the original materials and that can take a long time. Then we would move onto what bonus materials, if any, should be produced. In short, the list is the backbone of our catalog releases for 2002 and 2003. Even the real obscure titles (yeah, I'm thinking of Four Flies). So thanks everyone. The system is working.... Be patient.
Even though I don't think Argento's much cop, except for Suspiria -

Thanks guys. I guess I'll keep my eyes open :)
I have a copy of this, from a laserdisc source (can tell because of the disc change break), and must say it's a rather good early Argento. Better than Cat anyway...
Don't buy a dupe though, I really believe this will be out next year...

DCH: Is there anyway at all in which you could send it to me just to borrow for a day o two? Of course I'd pay P+P? Don't worry if you don't want to, but it'd be a huge favour! My mum's desperate to see this! :)
Hey you can borrow my copy if you want, quality is pretty poor.
e-mail me if interested.
