Hi, I am thinking of putting together the following Home Cinema setup and just wanted to know what you think or what would you change.

Pioneer 737 gold DVD multiregion

Denon 3802 AMP

Kef Q35.2 front
Kef Q95c.2 center
Kef Q85s.2 rear

Rel Q150e Sub

I mainly want to use it for home cinema but won't mind listening to the odd music cd.

Hi, Imran_UK

I am also considering my first home cinema setup. Like you I have decided to go with the Denon 3802 but am undecided on speakers. However, I'm been drawn towards

Mission M72 for fronts (2)
Mission M7c1 for centre (1)
Mission M7ds for surrounds and rears (4)
and
a KEF PSW-1000 sub-woofer

The Reason - the Mission surrounds are more in keeping with the style of my lounge & will therefore result in less hasstle from her indoors.

That said, I would be very interested to hear what others think of your suggestion before I commit myself.

I wish you well with your setup.

Hi The Saint

I would like to thank you for your reply and also wish you well with your setup.

How come you are going for bookshelf speakers for your fronts and not floorstanding.

How much are you thinking of spending on your setup? I am thinking about £2000 + £250 on rack and £250 on all the cables

Hi, Imran_UK

I'm afraid my budget is more restricted around £1300 excluding cables, etc. I was fortunate enough to buy a lot of my cables/sockets etc when I was on holiday in the States in September - they are reasonable quality but not the best.

The reason I am going for shelf speakers and not floorstanders is a compromise with the wife. I agreed to build an integrated set of units that would hide from sight as much of the Cinema components as possible - front speakers, DVD, VCR, AMP and Sat. (She likes the look of the professional installations you often see in the mags.) As the room will also be used as a lounge when entertaining guests and 7 speakers plus sub in my proposed setup it seemed a reasonable compromise.

Have you suffering any restrictions or limitations on your setup?

Excellent Choice, and one which works very well together. Denon amps are very well suited to Kef Speakers, infact that is what Denon use in demos (kef tdm's).

The rel Subwoofer is also an excellent choice and will complement the main speakers well. Make sure you give them plenty of time to run in before fine tuning the sub. My storm took about a month at reasonable volumes to run in proerly and loosen up.

Your choice will also give excellent music in straight stereo mode also.

I would go with what you have chosen above, and make sure your dealer is worth his weight and not just after your money.

good luck and let us know how you get on.

The Saint,
Missons budget pack is also a good choice for the money, but i would also listen to the kef budget range(crestas) with the denon, this will also tie in nicely with the sub.
Good luck and again let us know how you get on.
