View Full Version : worth using mindiscs for recording?
well is it? I bought a few new ones as I've still got an MD hi-fi (no ipod etc.) but figured there;s no point putting stuff on there if it will be absolete soon. If my hi-fi breaks for example ten years down the line then how tough would it be to get a new one?
As ever any help much appreciated, I am a technology ignoramus.
I dont think it will be too much of a problem as long as Sony continue to support the format they invented - Minidisc was huge in popularity in Japan a few years ago & still could be a niche market for it IMO
I owned a player/recorder for a couple of years - but I sold it after I bought a PC with a CD burner as I wanted to burn discs for my car stereo :)

The main problem is that it's very hard to get your music off them digitally. I've got about 30 MDs with digital CD rips on them, but players don't tend to have digital outputs, so so music is essentially trapped on the disc.
eBay is awash with really good MD players at very cheap (<£30) prices so there'll be a source of players or a while as people upgrade to MP3 players.
