When I play Quicktime 7 HD trailers (720p) on my PC, they dont play smoothly, they jerk throughout the trailer. When I play them on my laptop, they are so smooth, even 1080P plays better on my laptop than the 480P on my PC.

My PC is - AMD Sempron 2500+, 1gig 400DDR, 200SATA, 128MB Ati Radeon Pro.

My Laptop is a Dell Inspiron 6000, Intel Centrino Mobile 1.86ghz, 512MB, 8MB Intel 915 Onboard Gfx card.

Its weird how the laptop plays them better. Both machines have the same settings in MSCONFIG, and they both have the same firewalls, etc

It is pretty obvious to me, you laptop is MILES faster than you desktop. the Centrino chip you have is much faster than the 2500+.

yeap ur lappy cpu is mucho better than the sempron, the intel pentium m, has 2mb L2 cache which makes the cpu very very very good.

Thanks guys, always thought that the Sempron was better.

Mind you I expect my desktop to play the QT7 HD stuff without any jerking. I can play WMV and DIVX @ 720P at 24fps.

Merry Christmas.

have a search on here for high dif trailers, this is a player like mvc or summot which plays faultlessly.

QT is a lot more CPU intensive than WMV, Divx is very easy to play.

As said use VLC. My computers struggle to play HD content with quicktime (also it doesnt do full screen unless you pay) but with VLC its completely smooth.
