This DVD features both the original theatrical release (with all cuts waived) and the newer, added gore, director's cut which reinstates a lot of the extra blood and mayhem that the MPAA required removing prior to the film hitting the US cinema.
I must be having one of those days today because I can't work out is the new R2 version more violent than the criterion?
cheers
The MGM will be uncut, like the Criterion. So the new release will be no more gory than the Criterion.

So what all this intergrated branching about then?. Why don't they just use the same version.

The branching lets you choose which version you want to watch:
Either the Theatrical Cut or Directors Cut

Well it gives people the choice of watching the "Ooh that has gotta hurt!" cinema version, or the even more violent "Ooh that has REALLY gotta hurt!" director's cut :D

Yeah, integrated branching and not seamless branching. Get ready for layer changes and pauses between the movie and the extra scenes
Should have seen this coming

Am I the only one still disappointed by their decision not to include the ITV Version as an alternate soundtrack... we could have had violent / ultra-violent / just plain silly as options.
