Everyone should own this disc, a wonderful fantasy film which I still enjoy at the tender age of 24 :D

As the R1 isn't RCE, its pretty doubtful the R4 would be

Are you sure about that?
Checked on Play and it says May be RCE. But I thought Warner made all it's R1 DVDs RCE now.

Definately sure - I have an ancient Toshiba 2109, and it plays on that.
Perhaps they're only RCE encoding new releases, not back-catalogue.
For that matter, I imagine Play are going to cover their backsides by putting RCE on any Warner and Columbia - just in case.

Yep, thats the general feeling on these forums, and to be fair nobody should be worried about RCE discs these days. ;)

Well I guess it's all academic now, the friend who I was asking for went ahead and bought the R4 version.
And RCE doesn't worry me in the slightest I can manually select my region :D
Thanks to everyone who replied.
