What would be the best upgrade?

My daughter wants to play Sims 2 on our PC and my wife bought it for her. Unfortunately she bought the DVD edition and our PC doesnt have a DVD drive only a CD/RW one.

What would be best for me to do,buy a DVD-ROM drive and a stick of memory (only have 256mb at the mo) or replace the CD/RW drive with a DVD-RW drive?

Don't have much spare cash at the moment,what with Christmas coming and all that so can only get one or the other...

Recommendations please?

the sims 2 is pretty resource intense... i struggle to run it acceptably on my pc (athlon XP2000 processor, 512mb ram, geforce3 graphics card). fingers crossed you won't need to upgrade anything else
