View Full Version : High street recommendations for cabling
My new system's surround's speaker wire won't reach. I need about 20 m of the stuff. Would order online, but nightmare deliveries at this time of the year and g/f is not up for wire streaking across her new lounge over Xmas.
I resigned to the high street. I looking for about a quid a metre stuff, nothing special I guess. no Richers near me, just the usual Dixons et al. We do have a few hi-fi shops though.
Any ideas of makes etc I can be looking out for (Ohh, and it's got to be whitish to match the skirting board :))?

Bigger branches of Dixons stock IXOS cables so may be worth checking there

Be careful about what you buy - the connectors on the Eltax speakers are quite small and won't take large core speaker wire. You'll need to get something which will fit.
Try Maplin Electronics if theres a store near you.
or richer sounds
EDIT: ignore this as i just read your post, properly
If your budget is limited go to a local DIY store and buy a coil of electric "Twin and Earth" its white and works very well, purchase the size to suit

Also - CAT5 networking cable works very well.....
Search on "cat5 speaker cable" for loads of info

He's got the same speakers as myself - the Stargates - sorry I should have been more specific.
I bought extra cable and had a small problem trying to fit it.
