Are backlights on TFTs repairable?

I'm pretty sure the backlight on one of mine has failed because the operation light continues to work on the front of it and a current image is very faintly visible on the screen in daylight if viewed at oblique angles.

If it is repairable, does anyone know what the likely cost of a repair might be?

More than likely to be the inverter board that powers the backlight. Yes, it's repairable (replaceable more like) but you need to get hold of the right board for your monitor... have a word with a pro-repairs place or get on the net for spares for your make/model?

It's a Hyundai Imagequest Q17 and there's a chance I might still be covered by the warranty. Just have to search for the receipt now :(
