Just discovered today that the "other" player Safeway are selling (i.e not the £100 A3 that What HiFi? have fallen in lurve with) is actually another Sampo clone, which is my territory again, at Area 450.
It's a dead ringer for the DVE611 (currently US only - well, not any more anyway), but features a full set of dts and DD decoders on board but again no component video (blimey Sampo products are going downmarket :( ).
Anyway, if anyone owns one, could they try the hack for the DVE611 here (http://www.area450.com/hacks/regionhack.htm) at Area 450 (the specific CREGIN.TXT hack for the DVE611, not the remote control hack) and let me know whether it works.
There's no posibility of damaging your player, as all you are doing with the text file is trying to access a factory setting menu.
