View Full Version : Films on this Xmas
Seen the preview including Shrek, Toy Story (2 is it?) and a couple of others but does anyone know where I could find a list of all the stuff on terrestrial TV over the seasonal period?

DigiGuide is a great off-line listings program, but isn't free. Its currently got data up to the end of December. I'll rattle through it later and draw up a list.

Edit: Oh, and there is a limited free online resource:

Thanks mate, that kind of sums up.

Good work with the list.
The majority of it seems to be the usual rehashed rubbish, I imagine we'll see the main xmas day holidays filled out with usual rubbish Corrie and Enders "specials"
Remember the old days when Xmas meant BBC2 showing stuff like a Billy Wilder season ? Or some Eric Rhomer movies? They may have been repeats, but at least it was quality stuff.
Bah! Humbug!

Of course the *real* televisual highlight of Christmas Day is the hour long Doctor Who special...

Indeedy. There's an hour long documentary on BBC Radio Two on 20 Dec, and the hour-long episode is on Christmas Day at 7.25pm.

So far, there are 13 'To Be Announced' gaps, so there is time yet! ;)
I'll update the list when DidiGuide gets updated, or people let me know of updates.
Working over Christmas again ( :( ) so can't really be bothered with what's on TV, and I already own most of the good films on DVD that are being shown. I'll probably tape Dr. Who, Muppets and Land that Troy McClure Forgot.

Id second that !
Christmas without Christmas Vacation - travesty !
No Muppet Christmas Carol either.
I decided not to buy Xmas DVDs knowing most of the movies will be on TV. Turns out most of my xmas favourites are not on TV this year :(
Blimey, it's enough to drive you down the pub.... :-)
I miss the late night showing of horror movies, or black n white movies (film noirs, etc).
BTW - the Xmas Radio Times is out now, with a spiffing cover.

Yes Christmas Vacation is definitely on this year (well was as far as the early newspaper guides can guarantee).
Watership Down again
Looks like I'm the only one relatively impressed with the list-seen most of the big hits but a few not for ages, and some of the minor films sound promising. It's all different these days I guess, this will be my first xmas with a dvd player so less urgent need to tape stuff, can pick up most films for around a fiver on ebay.

i assume the lion, which and wardrobe one is the cartoon
all looks good to me, plenty of family stuff to watch. I do like a season of stuff on BBC2, like hitchcock but tivo can;t cope with it all :(
lots of agatha christyes uit me, then can't complain when i miss stuff when people are chatting as have seen 5 times already.
Don't know about anyone else, but for me, if a really christmassy film isn't on on the eve, day, or boxing day they might as well not bother. It's like getting a birthday card a week late.
I don't think there'll be much in the way of the christmas spirit on the 29th in my house anyway. By then I'll have been dragged around the shops for the sales and force fed everyone Turkey based meals for 3 days.
