Outlook Express not opening in Firefox.

Ok,don`t flame me,but I tried Thunderbird and didn`t like it,so I uninstalled it and went back to OE.Now,when I click the "read mail"icon in Firefox,nothing happens,whereas before,OE opened.
Can anyone help please?

Start -> Settings -> Control Panel -> Internet Options -> 'Programs' tab -> Email program. Whats it set to? Can you change it to 'Outlook Express' ?

Try changing it to something else, clicking OK, then changing it back to OE again.

Tried all those-still no joy!I can open OE on its own,but the Firefox tab for read mail won`t open it!Strangely though,it DOES open if I click on the "new message"tab!

OK. Can I throw some registry keys for you to check? What have you got as the default value in this key?
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Clients\Mail

(start -> run -> regedit)

Try changing it to just Outlook Express

This then ties up with this key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Clients\Mail\Outlook Express\shell\open\command

(Note this is in different 'hive')

I presume you've got that key too. Also check its correct. Mine is "%ProgramFiles%\Outlook Express\MSIMN.EXE" (note the quotes) which is different to the command you posted above.

I don't believe you need to restart Firefox, but probably best to.

OK. Can you install regMon and fileMon from sysInternals. Get them monitoring, then return to Firefox, click the menu item. Wait a sec or two, then stop filemon / regmon capturing. Save the output to a text file, zip it up, then email it to me.

Cheers for the logs. Found one interesting thing in the registry log:
2794 2.95499921 firefox.exe:2892 QueryValue HKCU\SOFTWARE\Clients\Mail\(Default) SUCCESS "Mozilla Thunderbird"So the default value is Thunderbird, rather than Outlook Express. Did you change it?
(HKCU is 'HKEY_CURRENT_USER' - same key as per post #7)

After that is an entry where its trying to find Thunderbird:
2796 2.95503497 firefox.exe:2892 OpenKey HKLM\SOFTWARE\Clients\Mail\Mozilla Thunderbird\shell\open\command NOT FOUNDWhich is why its doing nothing. I assume, anyway. Try changing the above key as per post #7.

If regedit is showing Outlook Express in that registry key, then restart Firefox.

Just to confirm. You're looking for the value on the right hand side, as per this screenshot:
