My mate borrowed my R4 FF and it wouldn't play on his machine.
The R4 is R2 encoded, although I thought the film was very poor in story and the extras are extremely dull, I mean there's only so mnay times you can look at an animatic or production drawing
It's a bit fluffy but I rather liked it in the end ( had to force myself to watch it cause I bought it for my kiddo for christmas and he's only 9 ) I'm pretty sure he'll watch it repeatedly ;)

Tell your friend to invest in a chip (or look for a handset hack if available). Then, like 70% of other UK DVD users, you/he/she wouldn't need to worry about it

Does anyone know why if it's dual encoded it WON'T play on my mates panasonic ?
As far as i know all R4 disks -dual encoded or not, have refused to play on his machine (don't know the model)....

Can he play UK disks from the likes of Columbia, Fox and HKL - as a lot of these disks are coded R2/4 also (i.e. disks are identical in both Australia and here - just the packaging and printing on disk differs)....
If he can there would be no reason why he can't play Aussie R2/4 encoded disks obviously.
