View Full Version : Sad Day for Zimbabwe Cricket!
According to news agencies, the whole Zimbabwean team is going to resign at the end of the current series. No international cricket will be played by or in Zimbabwe after the current test series is over. The Zimbabwe Cricket Union (ZCU) will also be dissolved. Zimbabwean cricket captain Tatenda Taibu and senior member Heath Streak were unable for comment when contacted by Reuters. President of Zimbabwe, Robert Mugabe described the decision to dissolve ZCU as "a sad day for Zimbabwe cricket". When asked about the reason for the action, President Mugabe said "It is a great loss for the country of Zimbabwe. Not only the cricket team, but the entire nation is demoralized. We could have easily continued playing cricket after losing to any country in the world, but the shock of watching India's captain Sourav Ganguly make a hundred against us was too much to bear. That is all I have to say."
.. a very sad day indeed.
If it is true then it is a very sad day. But to be totally honest they should not be playing International cricket anyway.
any particular reason why they shouldnt play international cricket.. is it because theyre crap or because of mugabe
It makes me sad that politics can interfere with a game to this extent :(
Maybe one day they will be able to return to the game (Won't hold my breath) :(

A bit of both really, their cricket is of a poor standard and they are just not good enough. They should be playing at least one step down.
What would you say about Namibia and Bangladesh!!
Personally I feel that more teams should be playing International Cricket.. Only then will it allow teams to progress and establish a fan base, which will hopefully in turn create better players..
Yes more should, but they shouldn't be playing teams like Australia, England, Pakistan, India etc at test level.
Maybe a league system something similar along the lines of the premiership... But I doubt some countries will be able to sustain a cricket board at such level!!

Agreed. It is pointless teams like England and Australia flying into Zimbabwe for a couple of easy one days matches and then flying out again. How are they being tested exactly ?
Zimbabwe should only being playing teams of a similar nature, not top test teams.
People realise that the OPs post is actually a joke right??, one at the expense of Ganguly.
Is it, Oops it went right over my head :D
Hmm if he'd have said Younis Khan getting a hundred it might have been funnier :p
:D
And theres me thinking that this is real..
