I'm trying to run a laptop and a desktop from a Netgear FS108 Switch and am having major problems. The PC works fine but the laptop won't. I've tried swapping the lan cables with no joy and when I bypass the switch and plug the laptop staight into the network the laptop is fine. I've had them both working before but for the life of me I can't understand why the laptop will not work with the Switch.
Any ideas????

Anyone?
What are the IP addresses of both machines?

PC has a static IP and the Laptop is set to DHCP.
Do you have something giving out DHCP then (e.g. a router)? If not it will not work!

Are you sure the DHCP server is not giving you the same IP address as the static one?

Router is giving out the IP addresses. When I plug the Laptop directly into the router its fine, its only when I try it via the Switch.

Nope, IP addresses are different. The IP address is not already in use, as I've tried pining it from another machine on the subnet.
Its got me stmped!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I assume you've tried swapping the ports.
Are the LEDs on the switch and ethernet ports flashing when plugged in?
