Is there any way to backup all your emails in Hotmail? I use the web interface and Ive got a helluva lot of important stuff in there - like all my DVDSoon co-orrespondance being used in my ongoing attempt to get my money back etc.

It would take me weeks to go in and print them all off.

You can use Outlook to move your hotmail to another folder on your pc...but the drawback is you have to have a paid hotmail account. Think it's £14.99 per year.

Get a pay for hotmail plus account (around £15 I think) and you will get pop access or get Outlook live (another ms service).

It may cost but if the data is that important to you...

I cancelled mine before it was up for renewal and they've given me 90 days free access to think about coming back.....which of course I won't as it silly to have to pay for hotmail, Microsoft gets enough money already! :)

There's always a lot of confusion about this.

If you were using your Hotmail account through Outlook or Outlook Express before the change (which was earlier this year IIRC) and weren't spamming people etc, then you are considered by Microsoft to be a "valued customer" and can continue to use you Hotmail account in this manner - indefinitely AFAIK.

For those who have had a Hotmail account for many years and want to now use it via the aforementioned email clients, then you're out of luck I'm afraid. Those users have to pay like everyone else.

Think there is somthing called Hotmail Popper which you can download which may allow you to download your email into outlook etc.

True: in fact, I can allow you to view your Hotmail account through POP email clients such as Mozilla Thunderbird.

However, and I'll quote their website (http://www.boolean.ca/hotpop/) on this:

Microsoft has recently decided that only paying members and existing 'valued' members will be able access Hotmail using outside services such as Hotmail Popper. Hotmail Popper will continue working with a "Hotmail Plus" (or equivalent MSN) account. It will also continue working if you have an older Hotmail account that Microsoft considers a 'valued' account.

Remember a while ago they sent through an email explaining the change, but again as a "valued member" who had used Outlook for ages they'd waive the fee. Seems a bit steep, but maybe worth paying for as you do get some more extra's.

If you have a normal POP3 email account why not just forward all you Hotmail messages to that ?
